A few of our scouts and adults went down to Seabase High Adventure Camp this summer in the Florida Keys. For many, this is a once in a lifetime trip and what an amazing adventure we had!
The adventure started by visiting Kennedy Space Center in Port Canaveral where we got to explore and learn about the history of the space program. While there, we got to talk to an astronaut and even saw a SpaceX rocket launch!
From there, we headed to Camp Jackson Sawyer in Scout Key, were we enjoyed swimming, kayaking and camping right next to the ocean. The first day was out on a charter boat where we got to snorkel in the most beautiful water and everyday ended with a beautiful sunset.
Then finally, the big day arrived. We boarded the Jolly Rover II and headed out to sea. Sails out, we let the wind take us on to even more adventure.
We visited some remote beaches, snorkeled at several beautiful coral reefs, did some fishing and even fed sharks! The rope swing was a huge hit and endured many flip competitions off the boat, some graceful, some not so much. Captain Rhon even let us drive the boat!
But as the sun got lower in the sky, we would wind down the day enjoying some of the most beautiful sunsets we had ever seen and a delicious dinner prepared by our scouts.
At night we slept on the deck, with a cool breeze and a beautiful view of the stars.
On our last day, we got to go to beautiful Key West. We toured Fort Zachary Taylor, found the southern most point in the US and then explored around Duval St.
An adventure we will never forget. Until next time! #Seabase 2022
